Grace U. Lundin of Scandia, MN

Age 87 of Scandia passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, December 23, 2005. 

She was preceded in death by husband, Tedd; infant children, Clyde, Amelia, Dora.

Grace is survived by daughter, Sandra (Gerald) Valleen; son, Gary; grandchildren, Jennifer (Russ) Lawrence, Jason; great grandchildren, Cody and Christian; sister, Irene (Melvin) Grandstrand.

A funeral was held on Wednesday, December 28th at Elim Lutheran Church in Scandia with burial in Elim Lutheran Cemetery.

Matthew W. Hunter of Forest Lake, MN

Age 46 of Forest Lake died on December 18, 2005.  Preceded in death by father, Robert. Survived by mother, Mary Jane Knitter; brother, Scott; sister, Lori; daughters, Shawna, Sasha; son, Zackary; significant other, Rochelle Larkin; and many cousins. Known to friends as Farmer Matt for the last 11 years, as he loved the freedom and beauty of outdoor life and work.

Visitation Tuesday, December 27th 5-7 PM at Roberts-Eckert Funeral Home, 555 Centennial Drive SW, Forest Lake.

Lori Motschenbacher of Cedar, MN

Lori passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a four year courageous battle with cancer on December 13, 2005. She fought her fight with bravery and determination, never complaining or thinking about herself but always thinking of others. Preceded in death by her grandparents, Vera, Ernest, & Ethel Blanchard, Norman & Helen Florhaug. Survived by loving husband Tom; children Kara and Kyle; her parents John & Sonja Florhaug and Lois & Emil Baufield; her in-laws Stan & Shirley Motschenbacher; her sisters Sheila Florhaug (Jose Zepeda) and Debbie (Tim) Motschenbacher; her sisters and brother in-laws Terrace (Jeff) Evans, John (Kim) Motschenbacher, Anna (Kevin) Halvorson; 11 nieces and nephews; and many special friends and co-workers. Lori was born on Jan. 9, 1959 in Beausejour, Manitoba. She graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1977, Moorhead State University in 1981, and received her Masters from Bethel College in 1996. Lori taught elementary physical education with the Centennial School District for 24 years. A coach of varsity volleyball, track, basketball at both Forest Lake and Centennial, and Junior Olympic Volleyball, Lori loved sports. She was the founder of Centennial Variety Scholarship Fund. Lori was an inductee of the Forest Lake High School Hall of Fame. Another love of Lori’s was singing in many church choirs. Teaching, coaching, singing, or dancing Lori was dedicated but most of all Lori was dedicated to her family and friends whom she loved very much.

James C. Crawford of Forest Lake, MN

December 10, 2005

Former Chief of Minnesota State Highway Patrol.  Age 77 of Forest Lake.  Died December 10, 2005 at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood. 

Preceded in death by daughter Jodie Larson in April, 1993 and his sister Laura Olson.

Survived by wife of 56 years, Barbara Crawford (nee Hall); sons Jeff (Lynda) of Woodbury, Jay (Jan) of Apex, North Carolina; grandchildren Kadie, Kendall, and Kale Crawford, Samantha and Sarah Crawford, James and Jessica Ashwood; sisters Jane Day of Portland, OR and Margaret Kramer of Joplin, MO.

James was the Chief of the Minnesota State Highway Patrol from 1972 -1979.  He began is patrol training in 1951 and was appointed a patrolman in 1952, retiring from the State Highway Patrol in October 1979.  

James was active in the Army Reserve for over 30 years.  He retired from the US Army Reserve as Brigadier General on June 15, 1988.  James served the city of Forest Lake as it Mayor for one term – 1990 – 1994.  He was an active Mason at Forest Lake Masonic Lodge #344 and Shriner and a member of the American Legion Business and Professional group. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 13th from 4-8 PM at the Roberts-Eckert Funeral Home, 555 Centennial Drive SW, Forest Lake.  Funeral will be Wednesday, December 14th at 10:30 AM with one hour of vistiation before the service at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake.  Interment will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Memorials preferred to Memorial Masonic Cancer Center.

Hannah Pearson of Wyoming, MN

Our princess was called Home as a result of a tragic auto accident on 12-9-05. She was born on July 3, 1991 in K.I. Sawyer AFB, Michigan to Bruce and Sharon (nee Rice) Pearson. Hannah was preceded in death by her grandmother Margaret Pearson and her uncle John Rice. She is survived by her parents Bruce & Sharon Pearson of Wyoming, MN; her sister Bethany Anne; her brother Benjamin Bruce; her grandparents Robert & Sharon Pearson of Brooklyn Park and Larry & Dorothy Rice of LaCrosse, WI; her sisters by proxy Aubrey Dunkerton of Soso, MS, Heather & Sarah Wabrowetz of Duluth; her aunts and uncles and their families Brad & Sandy Pearson, Katie, Stefi & Jonathan, Bruce & Patty Franz, Bryan, Brandon, & Alyssa, Lynne Rice, Joshua & Jacob; and many special friends from AWANA at Linwood Covenant Church, Croixside Pony Club, Shadow Creek Stable, YEAH Academy, Jubilee Home School Group, and Grace Church of Wyoming.
