Holiday Remembrance Service

December 9, 2008

Our Holiday Season Remembrance service was held last Thursday evening at the Funeral Home. We had many families of those we served brave the cold to come and remember their loved ones this Holiday Season. Special music by the Faith Lutheran Church Praise Team, message from Funeral Celebrant Marlene Keyser, a candle lighting ceremony, followed by treats and refreshments in our community room rounded out the evening. As Tim mentioned that evening take the time to tell stories, share memories, and remember your loved ones when you’re together with family and friends this holiday season and give yourself permission to grieve no matter the situation. Don’t let your loved one become the “elephant” in the room, establish the significance of their life and death.

As I have the annual Scandia-Marine Lions Christmas party on my calendar this thursday, I will especially remember a young 17 year old girl with her Mom at last years party. As I was standing in the buffet line, Jenna and her Mom were singing along to the Christmas carols being played by the band. Jenna Lynn passed away after a long battle with cancer in late November, I hope her parents are at this year’s party so I can share that memory with them and help establish the significance of Jenna’s life.
Take the time to remember this holiday season!

For over 40 years, Ken has been singing with a church choir, in White Bear Lake for many years and has most recently sang at Faith Lutheran Church in Forest Lake.
