Grandpa Mick, Grandma Sandie, Macy, Madie, Coleten & Landen in Florida

Seeing young boys and girls struggling to approach the casket for the first time, or being one of the last to leave the cemetery almost always chokes me up. I can remember doing the very same thing when all four of my grandparents passed away within a nine year span back in the 80’s & 90’s. I believe that grandparents are not fully appreciated until their gone, as I was guilty of being caught up in my own life not taking the time to call or stop more often.

Chaleece, Coleten, Landen & I just returned from visiting my folks in Florida, and as we were on our way to the airport for our return trip, my 6 year old Coleten starting crying. I was struck by this because of his personality, he typically wouldn’t show this emotion, but than realized how much he loves his grandparents.

Seeing grand kids saying goodbye to grandparents throughout the funeral process will always remind me to make sure Coleten & Landen have a close relationship with Grandma & Grandpa.
