A meaningful funeral service helps the bereaved move from a life before death to a life after death and provides an opportunity to express feelings of loss while being surrounded by family members and friends. Funerals are most meaningful when they are personalized. No two people are alike and therefore no two funerals should be alike either.

At Roberts Family Funeral Home we truly believe that every life tells a story, and that story deserves to be told. This belief is supported by our Roberts Life Story Tributes, which is a personalized approach to telling that story. This unique experience honors the life that was lived, embraces the love that was shared, and celebrates the family legacy that lives on. Roberts Life Story Tributes consist of two options. The first is called Stories and Memories and is a time for telling the life story of your loved one and allowing others to participate by sharing favorite memories as well. It takes place during the visitation time when most family and close friends are present and generally will last up to 30 minutes. The second option is called A Life Story Memorial or Funeral Service and is available for those who wish to have the funeral or memorial service at the funeral home. This service will generally have music, scripture readings, and will tell the life story of the deceased. Either tribute will be created and led by Marlene Keyser, our on-staff Certified Celebrant.

Planning a personalized funeral can be very rewarding. There are many options and ways to personalize a funeral. The best place to start is to think about the special qualities of the person who died and what he or she meant to others. How can the uniqueness of the life lived be expressed? We hope that we are able to help you create a celebration of life filled with lasting memories. Some suggestions of how to personalize and create a meaningful service include but are not limited to the following:

Display of personal items of the deceased of their favorite hobby or something significant in their life such as: a military uniform, golf clubs, a musical instrument, knitting needles, awards or certificates, motorcycle jacket, fishing pole…the possibilities here are really endless.

Display of family photos. We have many easels and tables available to display photos during a visitation, funeral or memorial service. Many families find that the time they spend organizing photos for this purpose stimulates helpful reminiscing.

We offer to the families we serve the option of having a video tribute made. A video tribute is generally in DVD format and includes approximately 30 photos to a musical selection of the family’s choice. Samples of a video tribute from a memorial DVD are available. The quality of these clips have been reduced in order to be compatible with multiple Internet delivery speeds. [Sample for Dialup Connections] [For Broadband Connections] We include this service at no charge to the families who chose a traditional funeral or cremation. This service is available to those families who do not choose a traditional service for a nominal fee.

Another option is to have a table with blank cards for guests to record a favorite memory of the person who has died. These cards can later be placed in an album to make a permanent memory book.

We also offer the families we serve the option of having their loved one’s obituary placed on a permanent website. With the popularity of the world wide web the traditional death announcement has evolved into a memorial tribute that is multi-faceted.

Memorial folders may be personalized with the deceased’s photograph and a favorite poem or scripture. We provide these at no extra charge to all the families we serve.

Personalization offers many unique options. We have found that when the family and guests are involved in part of the service it becomes more memorable for them. Ways to include the family and guests are balloon, butterfly, or dove releases.

We have also found that families find it meaningful when they can offer something tangible to those attending the service. An option here is to give those attending the service a packet of wildflower seeds to plant in the deceased’s memory. This creates a timeless commemoration of the life lived.
