Sonja J. Plantz

Age 83 of Forest Lake. Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother passed away on November 16, 2023. Preceded in death by parents, A.O. & Dagny Garlock; brother Gayle Garlock. Survived by loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Joe; children Michel, Tim, Amy (John) VanBergen, & Carrie (Fred) Krautkramer; grandkids, Abigail, Grace, Jack and Reece; many nieces, nephews other relatives and lifelong friends. Sonja grew up in Plover, Iowa and graduated from Northern Iowa Teacher’s College. She married Joe Plantz in 1962 and were rarely seen apart. She had many creative talents from ceramics with her ‘mini-mates’ friends of Minneapolis, to cross-stitch, quilting, and knitting. She could sit down at a piano and play whatever you put in front of her. She was a wonderful cook and even better baker. She lived her best life the past 25 years at their cabin on Lake Vermilion and watching her grandkids grow-up.Thank you to the staff at Lindstrom Senior Living for their care and kindness.
