Sonja grew up in Plover, Iowa and graduated from Northern Iowa Teacher’s College. She married Joe Plantz in 1962 and were rarely seen apart. She had many creative talents from ceramics with her ‘mini-mates’ friends of Minneapolis, to cross-stitch, quilting, and knitting. She could sit down at a piano and play whatever you put in front of her. She was a wonderful cook and even better baker. She lived her best life the past 25 years at their cabin on Lake Vermilion and watching her grandkids grow-up.Thank you to the staff at Lindstrom Senior Living for their care and kindness.
A celebration of Sonja’s life 2-5 PM Tuesday, November 21st at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. If choosing to send flowers, please consider sending them to a family member or friend of yours to brighten their day, per Sonja’s wishes.
Best friends since grade school. Maid of honor at our wedding. We will miss you. With our love, Muriel and Jim Hinrichs
You have our heartfelt sympathy. Sonja was a wonderful lake neighbor. One of my favorite memories was when the electricity was out at the Plantz’s & Hatch’s cabins so they came to our cabin for lunch. We had the best time laughing and gabbing. We had such a friendly neighborhood and much camaraderie.
Tender thoughts are with all of you,
Gregg & Ilene Rice
Sorry for ur loss Tim Plantz & Family

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
Michele, Tim, Amy & Carrie, We were so very sorry to hear of your wonderful mom’s passing. We really enjoyed being neighbors across the street from you in Forest Lake. Sonja was always so welcoming, and I remember the many times I would go over and have coffee or talk to her outside on the steps. Sorry this message is getting out to you so late, but just wanted to send you our sincere condolences. Dwight & Jan Hahn
