Burial Service Options

Funeral Services

Sometimes even the thought of planning a funeral seems too difficult for those who've suffered a loss. We're here to help lighten your burden, streamline the planning process, and remind you of the true value a service or celebration of life can hold for you and your family.

The healing power of a memorial service

A funeral service provides those who are grieving with a supportive environment to celebrate their loved one’s life and start the journey toward healing and peace. No matter what you choose to do, our staff is honored to assist you in creating a service that reflects your loved one’s unique life journey.

Burial Services

There are different elements you can choose from when arranging a burial, depending upon your individual needs and preferences:

  • Immediate burial means that your loved one's physical remains will be buried or entombed without a public service or gathering. Embalming is not a requirement for immediate burial.
  • A visitation, also called a viewing, wake or calling hours, allows family and friends to gather in a room with the departed loved one in an open or closed casket to say goodbye and offer their support and sympathy. Embalming is required if the body will be publicly viewed.
  • The funeral or memorial service can take place at a funeral home, church, or even at your home. No matter where it’s held, both the visitation and the service can be personalized to reflect your loved one. For more information on personalization, visit our page on celebrating life.
  • Graveside, chapel, or committal services are held at the cemetery, and allow family and friends to be present for the burial if they wish.

Green Burial

Green burials (also called natural burials) reduce environmental harm by avoiding use of chemicals and non-biodegradable materials. It’s a process by which the body of a deceased person is interred in the soil in a manner that does not inhibit decomposition and allows the body to recycle naturally. Interment of the body is done in a biodegradable wood or wicker casket, or a biodegradable shroud. A green burial service may be right for a person who was an avid nature lover, worked in an environmental science field, or was passionate about living an eco-friendly lifestyle.

If choosing green burial, the $595 fee for embalming/restorative arts will be subtracted from the cost of each package detailed below.

As you consider your options, Roberts Family Funeral Home will not only guide you through each step, we’ll also answer any questions you have about earth-friendly alternatives to traditional burial.
